In the last 48 years, Prof. Shrestha has held several important posts such as Professor, Campus Chief, Project Co-coordinator/Project Chief and International/National Consultant with various World Bank/Asian Development Bank/Bi-Lateral financed projects aimed at the improvement of engineering and technical education and training system in several countries across the world. He retired as a Professor from the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University in 2007 after 32 years of service. He is still active and has been contributing to the fields of engineering and technical and vocational education at different capacities. He is also a certified Lead Quality Auditor and specializes in developing strategic organization designs and helping institutions bring them to fruition. He has also addressed a number of international professional meetings, seminars, conferences, and training programs as visiting Professor, Keynote speaker and lead speaker in many countries. In February 2018, the Government of Nepal appointed Prof. Shrestha as the Coordinator of the High-Level National Task Force on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The main objective of the Task Force was to come up with a National TVET Strategy Document. The Task Force submitted the National TVET Report that presented a TVET Architecture and National TVET Policy for Nepal.
